The Stanly Arts Guild and Gifts store at 152 W. Main St. in downtown Albemarle has two easy ways to take part in the local art scene this fall.
Sunday with Art: caricature artist Eric Melton
Caricature artist Eric Melton is the guest for this month’s Sunday with Art. The downtown listing says it’s open to the public with no registration needed. It doesn’t mention a cost, so check with the Guild if you’d like a drawing of your own.
Paint a Tile: America 250
Every Saturday from September through December, visitors of any age can paint a tile for a community mural marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. It’s free and a good stop on a Saturday downtown. Upcoming Saturdays include Oct. 17, 24 and 31.
Last day for Bid for the Cure
The Guild’s Bid for the Cure public silent auction runs through today, Oct. 15. Proceeds support the Stanly Health Foundation’s free mammogram program.
More America 250 events
The county’s America 250 calendar also includes Steven Campbell’s history talk on Oct. 22, the Charlotte Symphony on Nov. 1 and the Concert Band’s musical road trip on Nov. 5. See the America 250 site ↗ for the full list.
