The Stanly County Historical Society is behind two of next week’s most interesting downtown Albemarle evenings: a talk tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary, then an outdoor concert on the grounds of one of Albemarle’s oldest houses.
Thursday, Oct. 22: “Reflections through the Prism of History”
Speaker Steven Campbell presents “Reflections through the Prism of History” in the Central UMC sanctuary. The talk is listed on the county’s America 250 calendar, part of a year of events marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The listings don’t describe the talk in more detail.
Saturday, Oct. 24: “Dolly’s Songbook: A Tribute Concert”
Local singers Suzanne Holshouser, Maegan Coble Sloan and Bradley Eudy perform Dolly Parton songs outdoors at the Snuggs House. Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The downtown listing says beverages from Albemarle’s Social District are welcome. Event updates are on the Historical Society’s Facebook post ↗.
About the Snuggs House
The Isaiah Wilson Snuggs House dates to 1852, which makes it one of the oldest surviving houses in Albemarle. Read more about local history sites in our museums guide.
