Start with school assignment and enrollment

Stanly County Schools is the county’s public school district. A nearby campus or a town’s name does not establish a student’s assignment. Start with the district’s attendance zone resources and confirm your address with enrollment staff.

High schools, early colleges and additional programs

The district’s high school directory includes four traditional high schools, two early college programs, and the SCOVE / Stanly Academy Learning Center contact. Begin with the appropriate school’s counseling or main office when asking about courses, graduation planning or applications.

Stanly Early College is based at Stanly Community College. Stanly STEM Early College is housed within Albemarle High School. Both describe pathways combining a high school diploma with college study through Stanly Community College. Ask each program about admission, course pathways and the calendar that applies to enrolled students.

Stanly County Virtual Education (SCoVE) publishes a separate application for consideration and identifies its office on the Stanly Academy Learning Center campus, 1121 Austin Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. The shared contact is 704-961-4500. The Stanly Academy Learning Center website describes alternative education support and a transition to YES Academies at traditional high schools. Contact the district for the current placement or support pathway rather than assuming these programs use ordinary walk-in enrollment.

Charter, private and home education

Gray Stone Day School — Misenheimer

Gray Stone Day School is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades 6–12. Its address is 49464 Merner Terrace, Misenheimer, NC 28109; call 704-463-0567. Independent schools with published local contacts

Find licensed child care, preschool and NC Pre-K

A useful child care search starts with the child’s age, the hours your family needs and the distance you can travel every day. Search near home and work, then speak with providers about openings, fees, transportation and the daily routine.

1. Search the state’s live records. Open the NC child care facility search and select Stanly County. You can also narrow by city, ZIP code or a provider’s name.
