Announced for summer 2027
Camp John J. Barnhardt · New London
Overnight Scouting camp · 2027 dates published. The camp on Badin Lake serves Scouts BSA troops and Venturing crews. Its official summer-camp page lists four resident weeks: June 6–12, June 13–19, June 20–26 and June 27–July 3, 2027, followed by Eagle Week July 5–10.
The council’s June 6–12 registration page confirms that week’s dates and group registration route. Arrange participation through your unit and confirm eligibility and space with the camp. This is a Scouting program, rather than a general drop-in day camp.

Day camps and municipal recreation
Stanly County Family YMCA
2026 sessions completed · Next summer schedule to be announced. The Y’s summer-camp hub is the starting point for full-day camp and half-day enrichment options. Past activities have included swimming, games, crafts, outdoor skills and learning projects.
- Albemarle full-day camp: The 2026 Pavilion parent packet served children entering kindergarten–grade 8 and ran May 26–August 7. The Pavilion is at 115 C. B. Crook Drive, near the main YMCA.
- Norwood and Oakboro enrichment camps: The 2026 enrichment packet listed seven weeks between June 8 and July 31 for children entering kindergarten–grade 8, with half-day sessions at Norwood First Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church Oakboro. These were YMCA programs hosted at churches.

Albemarle Parks & Recreation camps
Use the city’s camp registration category and full program catalog for newly posted camps, aquatics and outdoor recreation. A future summer schedule was not established during this review. Ask the department which programs fit your child’s age and the hours you need.

Locust sports camps
The city sports page describes basketball skills camps and volleyball camp for rising grades 5–8. Watch Locust’s registration catalog for the next dated session; a 2027 schedule was not verified. Questions: 704-888-5260 ext. 107 · hwilliams@locustnc.gov.
Stanly County Gymnastics · Albemarle
2026 sessions completed. The operator’s summer-camp page describes a program for ages 5–13 combining gymnastics, games, crafts and outdoor activities; prior gymnastics experience is not required. Its 2026 schedule covered June and July, with a holiday-week closure.

College, technology, trades and sports
Summers@SCC / Camp College
2026 sessions completed; listed registration is closed or full. Stanly Community College’s camp page shows hands-on programs in coding, graphic design, skilled trades and cosmetology. Its 2026 grade ranges varied: Python for rising grades 6–9 and 10–12, graphic design for rising grades 10–12, trades for rising grades 7–9, and cosmetology for rising grades 6–9.

Pfeiffer University athletics · Misenheimer
The official athletics camp directory is the central route for coach-run camps. Its published 2026 basketball and volleyball summer sessions have passed; 2027 dates were not verified. Pfeiffer also links the Tony Faticoni Soccer Academy. Its June 2026 ID-camp details were for boys ages 15–18, including soccer development and college-recruiting information. The displayed June and July 2026 dates are past. Ask about a future session: 732-236-2904 · tony.faticoni@pfeiffer.edu.
Arts, theatre, music and creative camps
Stanly County Arts Council Summer Arts Camp
2026 sessions completed. The council’s summer arts camp program combined visual art, theatre, music and dance for rising grades 1–6. Its July 2026 camps were held at West Stanly High School and Albemarle High School. The provider also publishes scholarship information and creative activities families can explore between camp seasons.
A 2027 schedule was not verified. Ask about the next announcement and scholarship process: 704-982-8118. The council office is at 26032-G Newt Road, Albemarle; this is not the school camp venue.
The Art Place · Downtown Albemarle
The studio’s 2026 summer-camp listing describes themed art weeks in June and July; those sessions are past and the example event is marked closed. Use the current class and event list for new announcements and ask the studio about age requirements and future summer options.

4-H, outdoor learning and overnight camp
Stanly County 4-H and Extension
Start with Extension’s youth education page and the local 4-H news hub. Extension retired the “Summer Blast” name in 2026 and now directs families to activities listed by its individual agents. Look for dated workshops and learning opportunities throughout the year rather than assuming a single summer catalog is current.
For 4-H overnight camp, Stanly’s published 2026 trip served ages 8–18 at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, outside Stanly County in Richmond County. That June 21–26 trip has ended. Ask about the next county delegation, enrollment and any scholarship assistance.

Faith-based outdoor programs and Vacation Bible School
Oaks Family Ministries
2026 programs completed. The ministry’s camp page describes Christian outdoor programs, including a summer day camp for ages 10–17 at Morrow Mountain State Park and father–child overnight trips at Arrowhead Campground in the Uwharrie National Forest. Arrowhead is a nearby regional option outside Stanly County.
Activities included paddling, hiking, navigation and faith-based learning. These are ministry-organized programs, not camps operated by NC State Parks. Ask about a future schedule and participation requirements: oaksfm@gmail.com.
Local church Vacation Bible School
The Uwharrie Baptist Association VBS directory helps families discover participating churches, age groups and registration contacts. It covers Stanly and Montgomery County communities; check the church’s location and the year of each listing.
Displayed summer listings should not be treated as confirmed 2027 programs. VBS hours and supervision vary, so confirm the arrangement directly rather than assuming full-day child care. Build your family’s camp plan
- Choose the format. Decide whether you need full-day care, a short skills workshop, half-day enrichment or an overnight experience.
- Check the correct age rule. Providers may use age on a cutoff date, the current grade, or the grade a child will enter next fall.
- Use the organizer’s latest dated registration. Confirm location, hours, price, availability, transport, meals, equipment, accessibility and cancellation terms before paying.
- Ask about assistance early. Some providers publish scholarships or financial assistance; availability and applications must be confirmed for the actual season.
- Fill the gaps. Browse recreation leagues and lessons, the events calendar, and education and licensed child-care resources for options beyond summer camp.
