Halloween in Stanly County starts early this year in Norwood. The Norwood Elementary Color Run/Walk sets off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 from the Uwharrie Bank parking lot on South Main Street. The organizer’s pitch is short and to the point: run, walk, dance and get covered in color. Parents, families and friends are all welcome to take part, so you don’t need to be a runner to join in.
What to know before you go
- When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, 8 a.m.
- Where: Uwharrie Bank parking lot, 107 S. Main St., Norwood, NC 28128.
- Cost: $25, per the RunSignup listing. Online registration stays open until the 8 a.m. start.
- Not posted: The listing doesn’t give a distance, a route or who the money raised goes to. Check the registration page ↗ or contact the school if you need those details.
- Tip: Color runs are messy by design. Wear clothes you don’t mind staining and bring a towel or seat cover for the drive home.
Make a day of Halloween
The same morning, Atrium Health Stanly’s free Hike It! group hike tackles Morrow Mountain’s Falls Trail at 8 a.m. That evening brings the Locust Fall Festival (6–8 p.m.) and Uwharrie Brewing’s Halloween Haunt Party in Albemarle (7–10 p.m.).
