Albemarle Downtown’s Landmark Lounge series opens up historic downtown spaces that most people only see from the sidewalk. The third tour in the series, tonight, goes upstairs to the Opera House on the second floor of Courthouse Plaza at 115 W. Main St.
Guides lead small groups through the building’s history and architecture. Groups leave every 15 minutes, and guests get complimentary beer samples and popcorn while they wait. Proceeds support the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation.
Before you go
- Wear closed-toe shoes. A hard hat is provided and required.
- Bring a photo ID. Guests must be 18 or older.
- Accessibility: the ticket page says the space is not ADA accessible.
- Tickets are sold through Eventeny ↗; the posted base price is $10.
Make an evening of it at one of downtown’s restaurants. Our eat & drink guide covers options within walking distance, and the history section explains how Albemarle’s Main Street grew up around the courthouse.
